Glass Gradients by aaron @ Impact Forums

Here is a quick preview of what you'll end up with:

File > New

Width: 200px

Height: 100px

Set your foreground color (The one in front) to A8B8CA and your background color (the one in back) to FFFFFF.

Grab the gradient tool and click at the top while holding Shift and drag to the bottom.

Now, make a new layer and change the foreground color to FFFFFF.

Choose the rectangle tool and click from any top corner and to drag to the opposite side and nearly half way down.

Set the layer opacity to 75%.

Make a new layer

Choose the line tool and set the px to 3.

Make sure the foreground color is still FFFFFF

Click and drag across the whole thing once and use the arrow keys and position it it like so:

Make a new layer

Set the foreground color to A8B8CA and press CTRL+A and goto Edit>Stroke


Set it to 1 px and click ok.

You cant really save it as a gradient since the whole thing is rasterized and not a layer style. wink.gif

And if you want Flash banners, then why are you at GT? You don't need to use this tutorial just to make banners, you know.

This is a good tutorial, as far as gradient tutorials go. It achieves a nice effect.

As for it being "fucking noobish" I would like to ask what kind of pitiful excuse for a human being goes around flaming tutorials just for the fun of it?

It's not a 'noobish' tutorial; but a 'noobish' comment made by you. If you have been designing and practising for a long enough period of time you'd realise how effective gradients can be when the right colours are picked and you used them in the right way.

By the way, if you look at Aaron's signature, it's quite effective and stylish and; oh, look, it's using what he has taught you in the tutorial, along with a sort of shiny orb, also using a gradient.

Well done Aaron.
