Rolling release - GW 6.1

As of late, I've been issuing a number of rolling releases to add new functionality, update a few outdated sections, and even apply a few bugfixes. In fact, this is the official v6.1 with a major overhaul of the backend! Much of it remains invisble to you guys, but take my word, the engine is running much leaner now!

Having said that, if you have any ideas for new and improved functions, or just a feature you would really love to see. (Or, even a bugfix) Please do let us know!

Holiday Tutorial Contest

To celebrate the re-launch of Graphics World and to get everyone in the festive mood for the upcoming holiday season I would like to announce a tutorial competition! Seeing how Christmas and New Year’s is just around the corner, you can probably guess the theme of the competition!

I like to create my own holiday cards and custom email templates each year. With that goal in mind, I would like to offer some prizes for the best tutorials to provide some motivation. The competition will ...

GW 6 - Going Live

It's official, we are going live! Just waiting for the DNS to resolve to the new server now, aside from that we're ready to start the party!

Now, I'm not going to call this a beta release, but I wont claim that it is absolutely bug free either. I've done extensive testing and I hope I haven't missed anything. However, having said that, if you do encounter a problem please let me know - leave a comment or fire me an email through the contact form.

Hope you guys like the new ve ...

Setback - now on VMWare

Not a pleasant experience, but it's something I had to deal with. One of the ruby libraries that I required to implement the 'find similar' feature decided to be incompatible with Win XP ruby installer - anytime I would include it, something somewhere modified the ruby .dump method and consequently completely destroyed the Rails templating engine.

After fighting with it over the course of several days (I think I tried virtually every permutation of ruby one-click installer and the libr ...

Database migration complete

Well, we're almost there! The database has now finally migrated to the new schema and everything seems to be working out just as planned.

Repeat visitors will notice that the number of tutorials is now much less - I've pruned all broken and misleading links during the migration. All broken images have also been fixed. The upside of all this work is that now I've built a toolkit to do much of these functions automatically, so in the future I will actively look out for these cases and de ...
