Holiday Tutorial Contest
To celebrate the re-launch of Graphics World and to get everyone in the festive mood for the upcoming holiday season I would like to announce a tutorial competition! Seeing how Christmas and New Year’s is just around the corner, you can probably guess the theme of the competition!
I like to create my own holiday cards and custom email templates each year. With that goal in mind, I would like to offer some prizes for the best tutorials to provide some motivation. The competition will start effective today and will run until Jan. 1st, 2007. Of course, the sooner you submit your tutorial the more feedback you will get, and more exposure your work will receive.
Rules:
- Any graphics program is eligible (Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, Corel, etc.)
- Tutorial has to be centered around the upcoming holiday season.
- Original tutorials only. However, prior work is eligible also.
- You may submit as many tutorials as you wish.
- Entries will be judged by yours truly, and other users feedback.
- Competition will be judged only if there are ten authors at least.
- Contest ends on Jan 1st, 2007.
Prizes:
The winner (1st place) of the competition will receive a neat little gadget that every graphics artist should have handy, a Pantone huey! What is it?
huey corrects the color on your monitor so photos and designs print more accurately, game graphics are more intense and movies are more true–to–life. Easy–to–use right out of the box, huey adapts your monitor for changing room lighting and applies your personal preferences for viewing accurate color all of the time.
It's a great little tool, I have one sitting beside me on my desk and it has sure come in handy! If you ever tried to print or color-match your work, then you know the pains you have to go through to get your colors to look 'just right'. This little gadget simplifies this process, and allows you to tune your monitor at the same time. It auto adjusts your monitor to the lighting conditions in your room and stores multiple profiles. It's plain awesome!
Depending on the number of entries, I may add second and third place prizes, which will most likely either involve prominent placing on our site, or some Graphics World gear!
When you submit a tutorial, please add it to our database and post a comment in this thread. I will add your entry to our Christmas list and give you some feedback!
