Graphics World is an educational, user driven graphics community. Our users submit, moderate and promote graphics related resources from all over the web. When a user submits a resource, it is queued in the 'moderation' queue where other users can choose to approve or reject it. If the resource is approved by our users it is added to our public database and appears in related search and browsing queries. Graphics World allows you to save, organize and share your favorite resources throughout the site or externally by giving you the functionality to organize your bookmarks and access them through RSS syndication. Technology
Graphics World is an ongoing research project aimed at providing friendly and relevant results to maximize your learning potential. We implement a number of Machine Learning and Clustering algorithms aimed at improving your experience and providing a better and more fulfilling stay on our website. These ratings are internal and independent for each query, but rely heavily on the user generated feedback.
Internally, Graphics World is rolling on Ruby on Rails and powered by the ForteHost Web-Hosting services.
History and Credits
Graphics World was designed, coded and is currently maintained by one person since its first launch in 1999. Beginning with a simple hand-picked aggregator model in its first version this website has evolved through six generations to arrive at what you see today.
Ilya Grigorik, the creator of this website, is currently a Computer Science student at the University of Waterloo. He has a knack for AI/Machine Learning field and uses his knowledge to improve and test new techniques for 'smarter' information retrieval on this very website.
